Parking Deck

Parking Deck

The Larry C. Hardy Parking Deck on State Street offers 540 parking spaces. Enter by following the large signs between Park and Boardman on Front Street (adjacent to the WTCM Radio Center) or State Street (adjacent to the Park Place Hotel). Parking is 50 cents per hour for the first two hours, and 40 cents per hour thereafter. Throughout the Cherry Festival, BATA buses will run every 20 minutes between the Parking Deck and the heart of Festival activities, Open Space at Garland Street. Parking Deck hours will be extended past the normal 10 p.m. closing time during the Festival.

Street Parking

A number of public lots are available around the city. You will find public lots behind the businesses on Front Street downtown. Larger lots are on the north side, between Grandview Parkway and Front Street. Smaller lots are found along the alleys south of Front Street, between Front and State Streets. There are also parallel public parking spaces along most of the streets downtown.

If the public lots and street parking spaces are full, you will find businesses displaying signs on the way into and out of town offering parking for varying prices. These additional parking areas are most often to be found during major events such as the Air Shows, Parades, and Fireworks. They function much like additional parking areas you see in the vicinity of major sports arenas and ballparks.

Visit the Transportation page of the Traverse City Convention and Visitors Bureau Web site for more information about transportation in Traverse City.

Transport Yourself

You will find many bike racks ready and waiting for you in downtown Traverse City and throughout Open Space, the heart of Festival activities. Getting to and from downtown on your bike can be fun, too. Check out the TART Trail Web Site (Traverse Area Recreation and Transportation Trails, Inc.), home of the North American VASA.

BATA will add evening Cherriot service beginning July 4 for every night during festival week and weekend Cherriot service on July 5, 6, and 12. The Cherriot's downtown transfer point will be relocated from July 4-12 to Garland Street behind the Convention and Visitors Bureau, directly across from the Open Space activities and an easy walk to parades, fireworks and other events.
